How true that a thank you will make all the difference.
I know that i get a great feeling when someone says those two very simple but so powerful words.
Thank you for always being there for me

Absolutely true Lois. In my middleageness i too sometimes write and say thank you when a job or service is well done- no matter how big or small the business is who did it well.
There is nothing more rewarding than a 'thank you', as the occasional complaint can ruin a person's day.
Perhaps we should campaign to reintroduce that simple p more…

Long may this positive mood prevail! It's so unusual to get anyone bothering to thank you for a job well done - so doubly pleasing. (Quick to complain though, I've noticed!) more…

I am imagining Russel Crowe, shirtless, wadeing through the meadow. Scrummy!
Yes, we are extremely lucky to have such easy access to some very very beautiful places.
Where we walk, and where my sister lives is very near the river, and as she is a tenant in a farm based cottage, we can access the fields, which are not being used for the more…

I think that's the right attitude! Of course, we're spoilt being able to get so easily to such beautiful places, aren't we? Not everyone is so fortunate, or appreciates the simple pleasures in life.
Harvest time is one of my favourites too: there is something very pleasing about the wind riffling through ripening corn (not just imagini more…

I couldn't agree more. I remember sweating over exams, only to find that the 'D' grade they issued was classified as a fail.
I suppose it's not politically correct for youngsters to fail anylonger.
I spent 10 years teaching adults, and boy oh boy, 16-18 yr old adults have no concept of failure- but they are very well equipped to appeal more…

I look at my grades from school- a time when exams were hard, people failed them and top grades were relatively rare and then think about the number of times I have seen almost illiterate young people who have been told by examiners that their work is worth an A. Its bizarre. more…

Thank you for bothering to read my rant. I am not sure if you are complimenting me or not?
However, it has taken me many years of built up annoyances, and the development of computer technology to allow me to spout off publically. I am, in fact, a bit of a technophobe, so am just getting to grips with public domains (if that's right) and per more…

Hi Grumpus
I agree that we should get the youngsters under some sort of control, and the old adage that give people enough rope they will hang themselves springs to mind. Society has given the mile of rope to these people, but they seem to be holding us all to ransom. I don't have an answer to this problem. I am not a parent- but like the maj more…

Ha! You are a year older than I am :-)
Welcome to the glorious world of blogging. I agree with you that this country is in an awful state and nothing is being done about it. That's because there is no incentive for politicians to change it. The system is heavily loaded in favour of the status quo and radical change is almost impossible more…

Welcome to the world of blogging Trai. I agree with much of what you say except one thing, "Conformity is everywhere ..."
Part of the increasing problems in this country is that people do NOT conform.
The growing crime rate is evidence of people not conforming to our laws.
Graffiti, litter and all forms of offensive behav more…
