This is my first attempt to 'blog', and i'm not sure how this works, but i'll give it a go.
I'm not really sure what a blog is- is it a rant, should it be poetic, can i use this new found tool to express my opinions?
As a middle aged woman- i regard myself as middle aged as i don't expect to live well into my nineties- i am getting weary of the repetitive nature of life and society. Where are the rebels these days? Why have we become so hum drum in England?
Conformity is everywhere i look, and acceptance of the words of bureaucrats, politicians, and big business.
Am i really happy to sit back and watch as my privacy is invaded at every turn. The answer is of course no.
Am i really happy to sit back and watch as the basic standard of living which i inhabit is stretched to breaking point- i am one of the many childless people on low income who cannot get tax credits, assistance for rates etc etc- while i watch the underbelly smugly smile (knowingly) at my efforts to support myself without government help. The answer is again a resounding NO.
I had a conversation recently with a relative who insisted on pointing out how we got here- in this present situation- citing Thatcher and the politicians of the 80s, I argued that it doesn't matter how we got here, the fact is we are here, and nobody (en mass) is doing anything about it. I used an agument of a broken vase- it inevitably doesn't matter how much you analyse who broke it, it is still broken and either needs replacing or repairing.
I am awaiting a brave soul who will start a rebellion and offer a future for all, not just the top and bottom of my society.
As a footnote, i am generally a happy person, but this is on my mind today and i thought i'd share it with you.
Thank you for reading!

Hello , Welcome , it's just your personal space to say whatever you want , whenever you want , however breifly or lengthily , and to leave comments on other people's postings , and respond to any left on yours , if you want to .
We are a prosperous country but unfortunately some , including some working people do'nt reap many of the advantages of that , and as you say the cost of living is steadily rising .
I doubt if anyone is smugly smiling at your predicament , though I'm sure it must feel that way at times .
I can't say I want , or expect a 'bloody' revolution in this country : All we have for the forseeable future is Labour and Conservative , or the lib-dems holding the balance of power in the unlikely event of a hung-parliment .
It will be interesting to find out more about your life , your opinions , interests ect , if you have the time and feel inclined to write more here , best wishes , - Martin .

Welcome to the world of blogging Trai. I agree with much of what you say except one thing, "Conformity is everywhere ..."
Part of the increasing problems in this country is that people do NOT conform.
The growing crime rate is evidence of people not conforming to our laws.
Graffiti, litter and all forms of offensive behaviour are the result of people not conforming to normal rules of decent society.
Manners and etiquette are things of the past and decline with each new generation.
I think what we need is to recognize that there is a growing underclass of non-conformists in this country and take steps to bring them into line.
Life would be more pleasant for everyone if this ever happened.
Hi Grumpus
I agree that we should get the youngsters under some sort of control, and the old adage that give people enough rope they will hang themselves springs to mind. Society has given the mile of rope to these people, but they seem to be holding us all to ransom. I don't have an answer to this problem. I am not a parent- but like the majority of society was brought up strictly and pushed the boundaries which were pretty tight. So i guess it goes back to reinstating boundaries, and addressing punishments for overstretching rules. I hate rules by the way as so many are not there to support anything important, just laid down by those who seek power over others, however it is for parents and authorities in direct contact with young people to decide what discipline should be in force, and not the laughable punishmnts that seem to exist at present.
I also add again it is a minority-albeit loud, noisy and very dispruptive who are creating problems. think back to school and how one disruptive child in a class could throw the whole lesson into disarray.

Ha! You are a year older than I am :-)
Welcome to the glorious world of blogging. I agree with you that this country is in an awful state and nothing is being done about it. That's because there is no incentive for politicians to change it. The system is heavily loaded in favour of the status quo and radical change is almost impossible. As a result, our votes are worthless. Whomever you vote for in a General Election, we get either Tory or Labour governing and that's how it's been for almost 100 years with no prospect of it changing. And Tory and Labour are 99% identical anyway, so where does that leave us? We have a sham of democracy and no chance of it changing, the rich carry on getting richer and more people slide towards poverty all the time.
Great here, isn't it?
Cheers, Tom.

Yup, there is far too much conformity. Interested to see you are an artist. Will we get to find out more about that?
